1. Saturday Oct 3, 5:15 PM Walk the Brooklyn Bridge from the City Hall end — About 1.3 miles from the Manhattan entrance to Dumbo, roughly 30 minutes at an unhurried pace, free. Gotham Park, home of this week's Move of the Week, sits under this same bridge's approach, so if you start the afternoon at the Mid-Autumn Festival and skip the 5 PM parade, this is the walk that joins the two plans.
2. 6:00 PM The Creole Food Festival's after-hours session, Brooklyn Bridge Park's Dumbo waterfront — Saturday only. $77 for unlimited tastings; the day runs 3 to 8 PM in two sessions, 3 to 6 (billed as the family session) and 6 to 8 (billed as after-hours), and the second is the one this play is built on. Our Brownstone Brooklyn desk is confident on the date, times and price, which match across five sources. It is not confident on the exact site: some listings say Emily Warren Roebling Plaza and others say Pier 3. We are printing the waterfront, not a pier number, and your ticket will settle it. 3. 6:33 PM Sunset, on the right side of the river this time — Sunset Saturday is about 6:33, from our own arithmetic. The Dumbo waterfront looks west across the East River at Lower Manhattan, and in early October the sun sets in the west-southwest, so it goes down behind the skyline you are facing. That puts the first 33 minutes of the session in the last of the light. We checked the direction as well as the clock; the sunset is the one thing in this edition we are willing to call a view.
4. 8:00 PM Session ends; the F at York Street — The session closes at 8. York Street, on the F, is about a 10-minute walk inland from the waterfront. The bridge back is the same 1.3 miles if neither of you is done talking.

Why it lands: Unlimited tastings at a fixed price turn a festival into a shared tasting menu: you can each order the thing the other one would not, at no extra cost. The bridge walk gives the evening a slow first half-hour, and the 6 PM session start is set for the light rather than in spite of it.

1. Sunday Oct 4, 1:00 PM The StoopFest hub, Lorimer Street between Nassau and Norman Avenues — Free, 1 to 5 PM, all ages. Food and drink from local businesses, a jazz quartet, live-band karaoke, a neighborhood quest, a community mural and a photobooth. The organizers' own listing tells people to come early because the free food runs out, so 1 PM is the time, not a suggestion. It is the first edition of this festival, which our north-Brooklyn desk confirmed across four sources, including the Eventbrite page, the Partiful invite and Brooklyn Magazine's weekend guide. The listing also names a second hub at Bedford Slip; we did not pin its address and are not sending you to it.
2. 5:00 PM The closing party at the McCarren Parkhouse — Free, 5 to 7 PM. McCarren Park begins at Nassau Avenue, the south end of the Lorimer hub, so this is a walk of a few minutes, not a trip. We did not pin which door of the Parkhouse the party uses; follow the festival's own signage.
3. 7:00 PM Party ends; the G at Nassau Avenue — Sunset Sunday is about 6:31, so the last half-hour of the party happens after the light goes. A note on our own discipline: McCarren is a flat park ringed by buildings, so we are not promising you a view of the sunset, only the time it happens. The Nassau Avenue G stop, at Manhattan Avenue, is about three blocks east along Nassau.

Why it lands: Live-band karaoke and a neighborhood quest give the two of you something to do besides talk, which is useful at 1 PM on a Sunday, and the festival's two-part schedule tells you when to move. Six free hours, none of them requiring a decision about the bill.
