1. Saturday Oct 3, 12:30 PM The Mid-Autumn community table on Mott Street, between Canal and Bayard — Free, Saturday only, 11 AM to 3:30 PM, run by the Chinatown Partnership with AAAAH Culture. Two sources carry it: the Partnership's own page and the Manhattan Borough President's calendar. It is one block of Mott, Canal to Bayard, so it is a stop rather than an afternoon; give it an hour. Arriving at 12:30 leaves three hours of the table's run on either side of you.
2. 2:30 PM South to Gotham Park, 1 Rose Street, for the Mid-Autumn Festival — About half a mile, roughly 12 minutes on foot by our map: south on Mott to Chatham Square, then toward the Brooklyn Bridge's Manhattan approach; the park sits underneath it. Free, 1 to 7 PM, with 100-plus community-painted lanterns, mahjong, mooncake and lantern workshops, and more than 20 AAPI food and retail vendors (the desk's sources name Anna Ye Tea and Tay Ninh Food among them). Two and a half hours before the parade is enough to eat your way through the vendor rows once and still claim a spot.
3. 5:00 PM The lantern parade — Saturday only; Friday and Sunday have the festival but not the parade. The 5 PM start appears on the festival's own page and on the Borough President's listing, and our downtown desk counted five sources in all, which is as well-sourced as anything we have printed. No route is published that we could find, so we are not drawing one. Be honest with yourselves about the light: sunset Saturday is about 6:33, so the parade itself happens in daylight. The lanterns read as lanterns in the festival's last half-hour, between 6:33 and the 7 PM close. Stay for it.
4. 7:15 PM Dim sum at Nom Wah Tea Parlor, 13 Doyers Street — Back north the same half-mile, about 12 minutes, to the dining room the restaurant's own site dates to 1920. The listings we checked give Saturday hours of 11 AM to 9 PM, which leaves an hour and forty-five minutes at the table if you walk straight over; confirm on nomwah.com before you rely on it. We found no reservation system in what we read, so plan on walking in. We have not priced the menu for this edition and are not guessing at a number.

Why it lands: The day has exactly one appointment, the 5 PM parade, and everything else is free and walkable inside a mile. The Mott Street table and the park are two different celebrations of the same holiday by different organizers, which gives you a reason to move rather than stand in one place for six hours. The festival's 7 PM close sets the end of the outdoor part for you, and dinner is twelve minutes from the gate.

Weather backup: Friday Oct 2 and Sunday Oct 4 run the same Gotham Park festival, 1 to 7 PM, free, without the parade and without the Mott Street table; Sunday also has Fun Fest Japan at Corlears Hook Park, noon to 4 (in the radar). None of the sources we read published a rain policy for either Saturday event, so check welcometochinatown.com on the morning you go.

Friday Oct 2, 6:15 PM The Oishii strawberry shop on Chelsea Market's Main Concourse — Open Thursday to Sunday, 11 AM to 7 PM, through Nov 1, so Friday qualifies and you have 45 minutes before it closes. We printed this shop as a new opening on Sept 10; it is here as the start time and the first thing you eat, not as the news. Chelsea Market is 75 Ninth Avenue, between 15th and 16th Streets.
2. 7:00 PM Dickson's Farmstand Meats Oktoberfest, same building — Friday only, 7 to 11 PM, 21 and over. $59 buys four hours of Bavarian food from the Dickson's butchers and unlimited pours from six beer stations, with Threes, KCBC, Industrial Arts, Wild East, Kills Boro and SingleCut among the brewers named. A live brass band plays first and the listing promises German disco later; neither source puts a clock on the switch. On the price: one of the three listings our desk found looked like last year's page, so we re-checked it this morning against Chelsea Market's own event page and a listing dated to 2026. Both say $59. Start from Chelsea Market's own event page rather than a reseller.
3. 11:00 PM Out the Ninth Avenue side to the 14th Street station — The A, C, E and L stop at 14th Street and Eighth Avenue is one block south and one avenue east, about five minutes on foot. Four hours of unlimited beer ends at a fixed time, which is the most useful feature of the whole evening: nobody has to decide when it is over.

Why it lands: A fixed-price ticket removes the running tab from the evening, and a single building removes the question of where to go next. The 45-minute strawberry stop gives you a start time that isn't a door, and the 11 PM close gives you an end time that isn't a choice. It is the least logistics per hour of anything in this edition.

Weather backup: If Friday doesn't work, nothing in this play repeats: the Oktoberfest is one night only. Oishii keeps its Thursday-to-Sunday hours through Nov 1, and on Saturday Oct 3 Daddy Rabbit's opening weekend at the Ace Hotel on West 29th is about a 20-minute walk northeast (in the radar).
